I know I must be one of those annoying students always asking obscure questions at in opportune moments. I’ve got another one. In the English casing system what do Thee and thou refer to? I’ve gone through my Webster English Grammar and it doesn’t list it, although in the conventional system, my suspicion is that thou is the second person plural pronoun in the nominative, and thee is the accusative case, which would give it the decline of thous in the genitive.

Normally the plural and the singular are both the same in the second person, but if thees and thous were adopted into the second person plural then we would have almost a complete casing system for pronouns, and its use in older texts would make sense.

    Rational

“Thou have committed no greater sin”
And “The sin of persecution belongs to thee”

For example, it would look something like this.

    2nd Person

    Nominative

    Accusative

    Genitive

    Singular

    You

    You

    Yours

    Plural

    Thou

    Thee

    Thous

I HAVE NO LJ MARK. I DON’T THINK WEBCT EMAIL IS WORKING

    | From: Michael Griffith
    | Subject: LiveJournal Marks (part 1) now up
    | Date Sent: April 19, 2007
    | To: All Section Instructors; All Section Designers; All Teaching Assistants; All Students; All Auditors
    |
    |
    | LiveJournal marks have now been posted. As there are some current problems with Mail in WebCT I am unsure whether everyone received the message about the deadline for submitting the date you want me to look at. So this date has been extended to Friday 20th April 11.59pm…. If you do not have a mark posted for your first LiveJournal offering then it means that I have NOT received your URL together with the entry date you wish me to assess,

    Hi Michael,
