Ekphrastic Poems

Hi all. Here are the images I used to stimulate your Ekphrastic imaginations the other day (what the hell is that say some- but they are the un-initiated ones!) Let them find out here. So if you are keen, willing and able why don’t you post/ copy your ekphrastic poem into THIS Blog [as a comment]…. let’s get a collection of them happening right here under these three stunning images. And remember click twice and thrice to get a close-up of the images themselves:

    Hi All!

    Here is my attempt at an Ekphrastic. Unfortunately the formatting and colours have been lost in my paste but you can see it at emmadircks.livejournal.com. I think these elements definitely add to it.

    Shapes and Colours
    of lucid form
    Brush strokes swoosh, swarm
    form pictures of hue.

    Soft and concurrent
    is the backdrop for this mess
    slender and long strokes
    contrast the chaotic foreground spackled with colour

    We can see ourselves in this mess
    pick apart and dissect
    or mix ourselves up again
    and be lost in the colour of the landscape

    My attempt on Ekphrastic style! =)

    I chose the Landscape by John Geleeson to try intertextuality/ekphrastic style.

    Her it goes;

    Wonderous,
    playfull,
    green,
    peace,
    yes peace,
    or pieces?

    dancing in a flower garden…

    swaying,
    one, two
    cha-cha-cha
    shake-shake

    arising from the dark,

    green, green, green.

    flying cloud in the paths
    rolling alon the seashore.

    crossing, crossing faster…

    a sudden
    bang-bang

    OUCH!

    crumbling, crumbling,
    touching the sun, the trees
    the day light…

    swiss…. swiss… swiss.

    la la la
    purple purple purple

    Lavander, yes you are.
    twirling,
    twirling.
    faster faster faster…

    Like a Ballerina…

    You’re a rollercoaster.

    Smile=)

    My attempt!!

    hi everyone, here is my colourful attempt at ekphrastic poetry. The artwork I chose was John Gleeson’s Landscape, enjoy! πŸ™‚

    Craze

    Circuses of colourful spirals unravel in their beauty,
    as the vast atmosphere illuminates an
    overwhelming burst;
    as colours drown with each other,
    as the spiralling playfulness embodies each
    manic circle;
    as the beast wildly strangles
    the purple
    the sky
    and the madness.
